Ever wondered why some people you’ve met always have a big smile on their face while you have a hard time finding some happy moments in life?
It is really not that hard to smile but the problem that we face is how we can become more aware to put a smile on our face?
Well, you too can be happier only if you practice the following helpful tips
1. Live in the present
Focus on the moment as it is now.
Why worry about tomorrow when you have no control over it?
We cannot change the past and tomorrow is still an uncertainty.
The only certainty and the possibility to influence its direction is the present.
So whenever you worry about the future, remind yourself that it is not conducive to happiness and productivity when you worry.
Rather, spend the time focusing on the present.
2. Keep your memory of all the past happy moments in your life sharp.
Remember any or all of these moments when anxiety or anger seems to be overpowering.
The very thought of those happy moments will raise levels of pleasure-inducing hormones while lowering the production of stress related hormones.
3. Talk to a loved one or your best friend if that makes you happier.
My best friend goes to every extent to bring a smile on my face, and I think of her whenever I am feeling down or being hurt by others.
Having a close group of friends is very useful and they can provide you the emotional support you need when faced with any obstacle you have in life.
4. Listen to your favorite music number or song.
Music relieves stress and soothes your brain and emotions, activating parts of the brain that produce happiness.
I have made it part of my daily routine to listen to sacred songs or meditation music to relieve stress.
This always relax me after a hard day of work. Try it out and put on your favorite music or CD/MP3.
5. Meditate and breathe deeply to calm your nerves, do away with stress.
Once stress is gone, you can experience a feeling of calm and happiness.
6. Do one thing at a time, instead of indulging in multiple tasks at once.
Studies have shown that focusing on different tasks at a time might be diverting concentration and will distract you to have deep and clear focus on your tasks.
For me, I have found that focusing on one task rather on multiple ones enable me to concentrate better and finish tasks faster.
7. Tell yourself consistently that happiness brings health.
So you will start looking for reasons to stay happy in order to be healthy.
If you choose to be happy now, you will certainly enjoy better health days later on.
So what not choose to be happy.
Regardless whether you are happy or not, time will pass by every single second.
8. Stay optimistic all the time.
Try to see the light at the end of the tunnel and be positive.
Positivity brings a sense of happiness and serenity to your mind.
Research reveals that optimists have a stronger immune system than pessimists.
Happy people take better care of themselves and do everything possible to keep them healthy – eat healthy, sleep well and don’t indulge in bad habits that might affect their health and well being.
Don’t harass yourself with shame, guilt, anxiety, or frustration; rather, find peace in everything.
See the half glass as half full rather than half empty.
9. Spend more time with family and friends, whose company you enjoy and who always are a source of encouragement for you, no matter what.
Invest in your relationships and surround yourself with happy people and the people who genuinely care about you and have your best interest at heart.
We all need a core group of close relatives and friends who can give us the emotional support when needed.
10. Be humble and show gratitude for everything.
Happy people tends to be more relaxed and focus more on filling the environment with happiness, joy, and fun and thank the Universe/Higher Power for everything while treating everybody alike.
Happy people are grateful for their life and show their gratitude to the Universe at every moment for keeping their loved ones safe and showing them another morning.
11. Focus on what you have, rather than what you don’t have.
I have found that to be content with all that I have makes me happy in an instant.
If ever I start worrying about everything that I lack, I can’t be happy and then I am surrounded by stress and worries to acquire more material things that I don’t have.
I have realized that thinking about material things or having a lot of material desires does me no good.
So whenever I am faced with these problems, I will instantly start thinking about the things I do have: a happy marriage, caring husband, loving parents and siblings, a roof over my head, food on the table and a nice house.
When I start thinking that way, my worries and other negative emotions will be instantly gone.
Try it and see if it does the same for you.
12. Do everything that makes you happy.
If watching your favorite movie or playing your favorite game makes you happy, always spare some time for it.
Or if you find pleasure in playing your favorite sport, don’t waste your time in doing something that doesn’t make you happy and rather spend the time on the things you like to do.
Life is too short to be spent on things that don’t make you happy
